Besides extending the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the Cabinet approved the continuation of the Khelo India Scheme, with an allocation of ₹36,441 crore from 2026-27 to 2030-31.

This enhanced funding is meant to

• Spot sporting talent from schools and villages.
• Build sports infrastructure.
• Provide better coaching and training support.
• Improve India’s readiness for the 2030 Commonwealth Games and also future Olympic events.

Overall the allocation is nearly eight times higher than the previous funding; it’s a big jump.

Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana Gets ₹5,070 Crore

The Union Cabinet also approved the Pradhan Mantri Surya Sarovar Yojana (PM-SSY) with an allocation of ₹5,070 crore.

The scheme will support:

• Development of 5,000 MW of floating solar capacity.
• Installation of 10,000 MW of energy storage systems.
• Central financial assistance of up to ₹1 crore per MW.
• Reduction of nearly 10 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions annually.
• Generation of employment opportunities in the renewable energy sector.

The initiative is expected to strengthen India’s clean energy capacity while promoting sustainable development.
