As per the President, Droupadi Murmu accepted Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation from the Union Council of Ministers with immediate effect under Article 75(2) of the constitution.

As per an official government notification, on the advice of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Pralhad Joshi has been given the additional charge of the Ministry of Education. He will carry on as the Union Minister for Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution and also for the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), while meanwhile managing the Education Ministry until further orders or directions are issued.

The move keeps things continuous in one of the country’s big and most significant ministries as the centre goes ahead with a key cabinet reshuffle.

Who is Pralhad Joshi?

Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi is a senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and one of the most senior parliamentarians from Karnataka. He was born on 27 November 1962 at Vijayapura (erstwhile Bijapur) in Karnataka and belongs to a traditional North Karnataka Brahmin family.
